This is reminiscent of the biblical verse that "we see through a glass darkly (meaning we see a bit of God), but we shall see [God] face to face."
Much of God is revealed to us in the scriptures, but in a lot of ways, even as believers, we are blind as to really seeing God. The Old Testament is full of God hiding or showing up in different forms.
